Chirps & Tweaks

The grand scheme

Wowah weewah! It's my punk-ass again. Sorry to disappoint. Well, actually I'm not sorry at all. Why would I?

A Switch™ has been made. The transition was pretty decent. VGC 2019 was quite amazing. I actually for the first time were able to attend locals. Yes! Poland has locals. In fact we have so many of them, with such little playerbase that one can say are even better than Ohio! Three TOs who can host MSSs and up to this day have not missed a single month of hosting! Our biggest event has had 10 people. In total we've had about 20 unique players. Two of them were from abroad.

Now that you know what's going on I shall start addressing some issues. Don't worry I'll try to keep it politically correct (haha... You know it's a lie, and so do I).

First of all, I feel like I've improved as a player a great deal even though last year I did not play seriously at all (WCs were still out of my reach as flights to US for a full-time student from a family conducting substantial life-style is too much too ask for). However, this year a lot has happened. I dropped out of uni for the second time, and I'm happy that I did as I was going nowhere. Now I've got all the time in the world to do things I care about, to read, to write, to meet people, to learn, to work, to laugh, to cry, to fight, to scream. Somewhere along this tangle of lives lies a single, thin thread of VGC. It slowly, but steadily grows stronger, creates more and more complicated structures. First, I became a TO, then I started hosting my own events, and now I'm the guy who does most of the logistic work for our community, as the others aren't as unrestrained as I am. You gotta do what you gotta do. It's a satisfying occupation. No regrets.

Second of all, the worst possible thing that could have happened has happened - I cut my first major. Yeah, I am as gobsmacked as you! The only solid answer I came up with is that people still suck in new environment. Just take a look at the teams of Bochum and Dallas; most of them have more holes than a swiss cheese. With all the respect to the competitors, the meta is as unstable as it can be. New strategies and composition are being born and die weekly, Galar Weekly. Some of those ideas are so bad that I can't even comprehend them, and trust me... I am notorious for putting too much effort into something that is not meant to be. The most polished compositions are to be seen in the top ranks of Battle Stadium, occupied mostly by Japanese (god bless, you guys! Keep it up, proud of you!).

I won't go into details about my run (not yet at least, as I need to get better, and I need to prove it to myself) nor will I discuss the CP payouts and such. It's no use, and it has been shown numerous times that the ones with power won't speak up as they have too much to lose. Keeping community figures on TPCI's payroll is very clever, and completely fair. It's a farce, yes, but one most people are happy with.

This is it for now. I've already smoked enough cigarettes to feel comfortable. Nicotine is one hell of a drug. Stay safe, take care and I'll throw my words at you some time again in the near future. Do with that as you will.

Bella ciao!

Hugless Life of a VGC Player

》What's this late night post? I just can't sleep again and feel a bit miserable so instead of swarming in my lonely bed I decided to write! Forgive me if the read doesn't bring any colors to your life. It's my diary after all, you pervert!

》How good was TCPI as of late? I would say pretty fucking no good. Polish language would allow me to describe it more in depht but gotta stick with the franca, man.

1-£) Let's sart with London IN. What a bloody mess it was. Haven't been there myself but my men were there and seen it all. I saw official (!!!) stream, YT & Twitter. Hold on cowboy! It was a truly wild ride. Eee-ha! (how the F do you spell this?)

2-€) European Regionals, how beautifully organized they were! How well distribiuted and announced across the entire Europe they were! How magnificent the entry fees were! What a delight it was to plan a trip to one of those! ... And on planning I had to end it, because I'm too poor to attend one even with $20 plane tickets.

3-¥) This is yen, right? Japanese circuit is somehow still completely isolated from the rest of the world. Why is that? They have so much talented and passionate players, that it breaks my fragile heart. They want to play. Look at their grassrooters! They kick ass. Allow them to play with other kids, daddy please!

4-A$) I had to improvise, ok? "Oceania" IN was a shitfest. No stream, a bunch of wallet shinobi & a woman (they exist o_0?!). Sorry land of cool endemits, you try, but it's just not enough.

5-/♧♤♧) No coinage this time, folks. Instead we give you wood and land. We care about you greatly, my dear. Can't you see? I can't, you dingo! The VGC player limit is a laugh. Not even a sarcastic or evil laugh. Just an ordinary good ol' laugh. Cheers to all the fools flying there. Have a save travel & get yourself some tequila, you may need it more than O2.

6-$) Freedom!!! That means only we can host WC. Be quiet Canada, we thought Vancouver was our city. Should've paid more attention in school I guess... California it is! We all dream about it so... Hey! Torture me! We deserve to have the most invites. It's our game, right? 《Mr. President, the japs made it...》Didn't we prove our superiority already? Let them scream! Make pokémon great again!

》This season is pure gold. Organisation-wise, communication-wise & money-wise a 5 year old would've done it at least on similiar level. Chris, just please, resign! You're clearly not cut for the job. You look like Marie-Antoinne. We hungry. We poor. We sick. You ingore us. We've had enough. I don't think anyone who respects themself will take VGC seriously next year. I won't even bother. Until worlds I probably won't even play the game. Maybe with my local pals, but only maybe.

I need a hug... You need a hug! ...We need a hug?

  ... Hug?

But no one was around.

The Decay of Western VGC Scene

Not gonna lie, I'm in a quite shitty mood. Haven't slept in 2 days might have let my critisism reach  critical point a bit too quickly. However what has happened today needs a properly sharp response.

For those who don't know what the hell I'm yelling all about: today Markus "@13Yoshi37" Stadter announced Yoshi's Invitational - the most egoistic tournament that could have been thought of. Not only that, but it also came with a package of rewards crowdfounding. This is supposed to be 8 man tour with a potential 9th (if they recevie 1000$). How were the players chosen remains a mystery but from my knowledge it looks like a beatiful friends gathering. Most of the players are indeed very accomplished. Let's introduce them properly. Shall we?

Thomas Gravoille (@HaricotTV) - I recognize the guy. He's a french WC attendant. What more should be said... ahhhh yes he does do live streams and YT. What a coincidence? No way he's there only for PR purposes. He clearly must be one of 8 best players. Why else would he get an invite?

Alex Gomez (PokeAlex_) - the man has more than 4k followers and a YT channel. Well, I know he's quite good at VGC and even a sociopathic cynic I am, admires him a bit. Nonetheless he got pulled into a very shady business. Sucks for you man, but that's the price we pay for greed.

Joshua Lorcy (@lorcylovesyou) - the guy's fairly new to VGC scene. His accomplishments decisively don't make him a proper candidate for an invite to such a big show-off tournament. Still it makes me rather worried that organizers offered a spot for a naive fan favourite (I even like him and that means something). You'll get your fingers burnt for reaching for money so impudently, I'm afraid.

Aaron Zheng (@CybertronVGC) - another New Yorker. Undeniably a close friend of Joshua Lorcy. Let's not forget about his success on You Tube. A crowd idol with a fair amount of experience and trophies under his belt well deserving an invite. Personally I find him highly overrated but that's just my ego calling.

Wolfe Glick (@WolfeyGlick) - where my sincere sharpness begins. Current world champion, a man who needless to say should make the great 8. However his close relationship with Markus should be noted. He makes a fool of himself on You Tube and Twitter on regular basis. His YT channel promoted as VGC educational is a poorman's laugh. What he posts there has nothing to do with helping to develop proper players but rather to create community memes. His content is trashy in numerous ways (for his defence he's fairly unfamiliar with the art of video-making). He has an absolutly enormous ego, but not as big as the ones I'm going to introduce you to in just moment. To sum up he's a lovable idiot who lacks any sense of seriousness. Being a veteran he is should make him more professional but in his case it goes the other way around. He's truly special.

Alex Ogloza (@AlexOgloza) - a chegger. The biggest VGC related personality. An amouser, one of the most entertaining content creator I know ...and a chunk of a greedy bastard. If VGC scene was a teenager's face he would be one of those disgustingly large pimps appearing overnight and refusing to disappear even after a reasonable amount of spotlight. At one point it even seemed like complexion regained it's clear status. How sham it was! The dermatologists nightmare returned with a bang and one may see it as a nasty splash spreading more defects. It's nothing personal, I just find him very manipulative and nepotive. Here it is your 2014 USA national champion -  Alex the drunk.

Marku$ $tadter (@13Yoshi37) - the one and only. A great player for certes. An arogant who lacks self-control and is overloaded with self-esteem. He's the only one of the 8 I had the "privilege" of playing against and meeting. It happend twice to be exact. Once on a NB live (nothing to take seriously) and the other time at the Berlin Arena Cup in 2014. Lost twice, once due to some impressive RNG and the other time due to me being average. I'm convinced he's way better than me and I don't intend to take that away from him. But as a person he's a narcissus not worthy of my time. What makes me so judgmental? Well I know about his VGC activity since 2011. He always seemed to me like a great player in various ways. Since his YT career had started I gradually were losing respect to him. His latest moves made me dislike him truly. Twitch showed him a way to grab sheep's wool. He has severely burnt himself in the community. I wish not to see him commentating any official events ever again (and I place a bet he won't). What he did is beyond my understanding. Markus is an intelligent dude but perhaps his mind was overtaken with pride and greed when he came up with such stinky idea. He's the man responsible for destroying the house of cards that the western community build. You tried to place your cards too rapidly and made a inexcusable blow. You may think I'm prejudging him. Allow me tell you what he has really done. He divided the community in a ruthless fashion. There will be his loyalists, his homies and the naive rookies. There also will be his pokers, the memers. And there also shall be the middle ground because this is not Game of Thrones but a merely reality. The approach he took in order to give himself and his pack another shot at internationals is so childish. You've done goof in London, my dear friend. Deal with it! Don't try to make folks pay for your mistake. The way you do it is so immature that you'll be laughted off just like Ruben was. What you're doing in internet is just like throwhing shit around hotel room. Bringing your popular friends into this doesn't grand you immunity. It just makes them look bad next to a sinking fool.

I wish pokemon was more of an esport. Those kind of people show why it can't be. I doubt with such common morality it'll ever have a shot at becoming one. One can dream but hundreds will. The whole event should be compared to Tarrantino's Hateful 8. Where a bunch of guys act like they are the good ones and the other half tells them what to do. It's just as messy as the movie. The proper soundtruck to it however shouldn't be the Morricone's but rather the Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water.

I expect the tour to get cancelled immediately and a public community apology.  Don't try to cover it up with your intensions of popularsing competetive pokémon, there's money on the line. Stop acting like a spoiled kid playing video game. Start at least pretending like you're the man you're trying to be on the internet. Don't make Trainer Tower a bed rock of cancer. But this is just a illusory fool's wish, nothing more overall & after all...

Internationals

Each day we're getting closer and closer to the biggest tournament in Europe. The idea is there but the execution is already looking iffy.

Let's start with the date. 9-11 Dec is an awful date for many reasons. It's just two weeks after the realease of SuMo in Europe (just so you know, we get it week after the rest of the world). Good luck with making a proper team in brand new format without major support from friends. I'm possitive there won't be in-game ladder in time for practise. They could have easily waited a week or even a month with the whole thing.

The place. London is quite convinient for most. The flights are cheap and hostels even cheaper. Public transport is awesome and there's plenty food options. We still don't have the exact event location but not much could be fucked up on this front. They may still find a way to do so though.

The prize pool is a joke. It's ridiculuse what they're doing. Entry fee of 35€ for regs. Will it be 50€ or more for inters? Looks like they won't be putting much from their pockets. For such high fee the prizes should be much more noticible. As of right now it's a joke. Let's not forget about TCG packs, that's the shit.

Bfl of 4. Needless to say it brings pay to win. But for poor folks such as me it's not that bad. If I get stomped in London I can stop playing without any regrets.

If you win the tourney you get day1 invite. WTF? Day 1? That's CP structure in a nutshell. It's so wrong just from looking at this. I hope the bar gets lowered to 400 in Europe.

How to get day 2 without PCs? To be honest it doesn't look possible. I need at least top 8 in London and real strong regs finishes. Great.

The foundamentals

Hello everyone! I'm (not) known online mostly as Tadei but you can probably find me somewhere as Ted/Tad/Tadeios/Szubiduba. In my natural habitat people and bots refer to me as Tadeusz Szuba. Quite odd name isn't it? Don't bother trying to pronounce it by your filthy lexicon! It's polish you dingo! But if you happen to be a persevere person I'll give you a hint. "Sz" is read similarly to english "sh" and the vowls don't have sneaky articulation! So "a" is read as "aa" and "e" sounds more like "a".

So am I teaching polish ? Wrong! I'm here to talk about hobbies. I happen to be fascineted by a lot of stuff. Since I was little I watched pokémon anime and collected cards, than soon after primary school started I got a birthday Game Boy Advance Special with Pokémon Emerald. It was a blast playing the game. When the 5th gen approached Europe I found out about competetive aspects. It didn't took long for me to discover VGC. I got into it hard. Spend countless hours on RNG abuse and battling. I made my real-life debout as a last-year senior in 2014  in Milan. I got bodied real hard. It wasn't enough to stop me from making a return to Italy in 15 as a master. Still bodied. Achievements out of 4 official events so far: almost top cutting in Arena Cup in Berlin (60ish player PC) and winning 1 PC in Berlin (15ish player). Well, could have been worst I suppose... But I still want to play and develop. 16 was a hard year for me. I gradueted from junior-high and changed enviroment completely. I moved from Warsaw to a small town at Baltic seaside called Władysławowo (don't even try to!). So I baisicly lost any scrap of PC base and had a bit of a struggle adopting to new surroundings. My 17 most efficent PC base is probably Stockholm... it's a start. New continental tournament sounds appealing to a carless poorman. Since 14 looks like I might have a shot at Worlds. I probably need paid trip variant but still! My life would be easier with any form of support from official organisers but Poland doesn't get the privilege.

What will be posted here? Not much probably. You may find a team report if I do something neat. I may adress some community isseue. As I mentioned I'm courious person, interested in Biology (mostly in birds and recently mycology). So something of this nature may pop-up.

There are people who you should check before me: Szymoninho;
